Wahl Hair Kits and
Trimmers
 Wahl is
renowned for its haircutting kits, trimmers and other personal grooming
accessories, and many of its products are regular best-sellers.
The company itself got its start nearly 100 years ago. You can read more at

Probably the most popular of these is the Wahl Chrome Pro Complete Haircutting Kit
(picture).
According to a product description:
The powerful clippers are useful for giving crew cuts and maintaining
shorter haircuts. The clippers have a high-speed PowerDrive motor, which
gives a smoother cut on thick hair. However, for the extent of its power,
the motor is fairly quiet and lightweight. A comfortable grip makes the
clippers easy to hold for a long period of time and a "Dura Chrome" finish
gives them that retro-barber-shop look. The clippers’ high-carbon steel
blades are permanently aligned so you never need to adjust them, and are
detachable for thorough cleaning.
The clippers come with 10 adjustable guide combs and a sliding
thumb-operated switch on the clippers lets you easily adjust the combs to
the proper height. Besides the clippers and guide combs, other accessories
in the kit include a barber comb; small flattop comb; pocket comb; barber
scissors for trimming bangs or stray hairs; two hair clips; a cape; neck
duster; instructional video; and a blade guard, a cleaning brush, and extra
oil for the electric clippers. The entire kit fits in a zippered storage
pouch. Wahl covers the clippers in this haircutting set under a five-year
limited warranty.
It is difficult to find independent, objective reviews online of Wahl
products. The best sources are commercial sites like Amazon.com and
Epinions.com, where actual users place reviews based on their own
experiences. Such guidance is often very valuable.
Here, for example, is part of a user review at Amazon.com of the Wahl 9918-617 Groomsman Beard and Mustache Trimmer:
I have been using a Wahl beard trimmer for nearly 6 years. It finally
started to show its age and I went looking for a new one. I tried Remington
brand, and they just did not work for me. I have very thick, stubborn hair
and the Remington's blades did not get close enough to my skin to get the
hairs I wanted. So I went back to what I knew worked, and re-ordered a new
Wahl Beard Trimmer. This one is very similar to my old one, except for a few
new things. There are more blade guards than before, and the clipper setting
now has 6 stages instead of 5. Otherwise, the trimmer is the same.
And that is a good thing. Immediately, the new Wahl made a difference and I
am very happy with the results. The reason why Wahl is so much better than
anything else (including the Remington) is that the blades that move back
and forth are so much closer to the guard teeth that you can see the
difference. Go to a store and look...you can see the difference between this
trimmer and other brands. The Wahl will always cut closer and better. There
is no other brand I would recommend - Wahl trimmers are simply the highest
quality you can find in this price range that give the closest trim on your
face.
