Remington Men's Shavers
Remington makes a large range of men's shavers that generally occupy the lower and medium territory of the price scale. You can read more about them at the Remington corporate website.

One of the most popular is the MS2-390 Microscreen 500 Rechargeable/Corded Shaver (pictured). Here is a product description:

* 2 Super flexing MicroScreen foils adjust to the contours of your face for a close shave.
* 3 position intercept trimmer to cut long and short hairs in one easy movement.
* Trims sideburns neckline and moustaches.
* Washable for a clean shave.
* Mains and rechargeable for cord/cordless use.
* 1 hour charge for up to 60 minutes shaving time.
* 5 minute quick charge.
* Recharge warning and charging indicator light.
* High performance motor for a faster shave.
* Ergonomic design with large soft touch grip.
* Automatic worldwide voltage selection.

I have not been able to find online any independent, objective reviews of the shavers.
However, sales sites like Amazon.com carry very useful consumer reviews. These often provide extremely practical guidance.

Amazon.com actually carries more than 100 reviews for the Remington MS2-390, most of them favorable. Here is an excerpt from one:

Unlike some previous reviewers comparing the two shavers [Remington and Norelco], I haven't experienced hair-pulling or face-cutting problems with the Norelco, but the machine's quiet, unlabored operation frequently caused me to wonder if it was even running. More importantly, it made shaving around a beard too much of a "guessing game." Especially if you try to maintain a consistent, even line between beard and skin at the neck, the Norelco leads to frustration--the line is constantly moving lower while becoming increasingly irregular.

Put simply, this Remington is the one to get if your face is of a hirsute nature. (Braun once won my allegiance--until I added up the cost of continually replacing those delicate, ripped foils). The Remington MS2-390 is not only quite rugged but ergonomic, inexpensive, and darned effective. As for the "noise" that many complain about, I've come to regard it as an all-business wake-up call, a high-pitched buzz of excitement confirming that the day's first task is under way--not to mention well in hand.

And here is another:

I've purchased many Remington products over the years, so I'm familiar with the brand and quality. This shaver is no exception. If you want bells and whistles...keep looking. I wanted a basic, nothing fancy, twin bladed shaver with trimmer and that's what I got. It does the job without a lot of fuss and a good price. This would make a great 'first shaver' for a young fella.
