Braun 8995 360 Complete Men's Shaver
The Braun 8975, 8985 and 8995 shavers have been introduced as upgrades to - and replacements for - the popular Activator series. A table outlining the main features of each model is at the Braun website.

According to a product description:

The new 360° Complete, model 8995, provides Braun's closest most complete shave ever. 360° Complete features Gillette Blade Technology that cuts hairs close in a single stroke without pulling or tugging.

Braun's patented Power-Comb lifts problem hairs that lie flat to the skin to avoid missed hairs in hard to shave areas. The unique SmartFoil pattern captures hairs growing in different directions while the 3-Stage Cutting System progressively shaves long hairs and stubble for a closer shave in fewer strokes.

The 360° Complete's Clean&Renew System automatically cleans, lubricates, dries and charges to keep the shaver feeling like new every day. This rechargeable shaver features an ergonomic shape and non-slip handle for easy maneuvering. Includes charging and replacement parts indicator, 50-minutes of cordless shave time from a 1-hour full charge and a 5-minute quick charge for 1 shave.

According to the British Shavers.co.uk sales website:

This is Braun's replacement to the 8595 Activator shaver. Changes are subtle and many of the proven existing technologies remain.

The main upgrade is a redesigned foil with a new cutter and a more radical integral trimmer designed to catch the longer rogue hairs while stimulating the skin to help normally missed hairs stand up and be cut.

The overall shape is similar to the Activator range and the clean and charge unit is the same item that worked well before.

Until recently Amazon.com featured a useful "Shaver Shopping Made Easy" page, with three "gold medal" shavers, including the Braun 8995. About these "gold medallists" it said:

These golden boys were selected as The Cream Of The Crop, Best of the Best, "It" Crowd contenders for most-requested and most-loved. Why? Because they feature the biggest and best technological advancements in shaving that make it easier (and faster) to get a close, clean, comfortable shave. Each shaver boasts features that go above and beyond traditional shaving technology, including self-cleaning systems, LCD displays, "smart foil" technology, oscillating heads, or systems that automatically recharge your shaver.

I have not been able to find objective and independent reviews online. However, many useful customer reviews are at the Amazon.com website. Here is one that is very positive:

I was very skeptical about getting this product. I never used an electric before and was doubtful if it would work well enough for me. I like a close shave everyday by razor. At first this product was horrible. Very bad shave for the first few days and I almost returned it. But there's a reason they say you need to use it for a few weeks for your face to get used to it. After about 5 days I guess either my face became used to the razor or my skills improved because now my shave is as almost good as a razor.

Yes, it really is as good as a razor, in fact if you shave half of your face with this, and the other half with a razor, you can barely see or feel the difference. Next, the cleaning device. It's excellent to just set it down, have it get cleaned, pick it up and have a fresh, disinfected, citrus smelling, slightly lubricated shaver every morning. Refills aren't that expensive (around $4 a piece) they last a month if you clean everyday. But if you're like me, I'd rather spend $4 on some cleaning solution than the $23+ on my old Gillette Fusion blades alone.

In short, this product is well worth it. If you haven't tried an electric, this is a great product to be your first.

And another:

I had been using the top of the line Braun model of about 5 years ago and decided to upgrade to this model. I can tell no difference in the closeness of the shave between the two despite the hype and whoopla about the 360 degree technology cutting head.

One drawback of the 360 technology is that the cutters cannot be cleaned with the brush and therefore you have to use the supplied cleaning device with the circulating liquid more frequently. This will increase the operating cost of the shaver. Also, the cutting head refills are about twice the price of the previous model ones.

This is not to say that the shaver is not to be purchased, just wait until your older model quits.
