Braun PocketGo P-70 Men's Shaver
Braun
has restructured its shaver products. The PocketGo is one of its cheaper
models, aimed at travellers. You can read more at the
Braun corporate website.
Here is a product description:
The PocketGo P-70 Men's Shaver by Braun is
designed specifically for men on the go. Its compact design ensures that
PocketGo can accompany you to work, on every business trip and holiday, or
just over the weekend. It fits in every pocket and is ideal for quick
touch-ups.
The shaver also features an extendable precision trimmer for those tricky
spots around the sideburns and under the nose. This battery shaver features
a protective Twist-Cap that automatically locks and protects the foil when
closed and offers a nonslip grip for easy handling.
With PocketGo P-70 Men's Shaver, you don't have to miss the comfort of your
home shaver, because the wide floating-foil technology of PocketGo provides
an extra close and comfortable shave.
The Palm Beach Post asked three
men to
test the shaver. Here is one comment:
This is an absolutely wonderful product and just the ticket for me. I've
been a Norelco triple-header guy for most of my life. But I hate taking it
on the road with me. It's just big. Especially when you throw in the
charger. I usually just throw a disposable blade in my bag for trips. This
thing, however, is brilliantly designed for travel. Plus, it runs on 2 good
ol' AA batteries so you don't have to pack a charger. The shave is extremely
close - maybe closer than my first-string shaver. And no kidding, you can
rinse it off in the sink!
The only flaw I found was the trimmer. It has a rounded head - making it
very difficult to get a clean line when trimming sideburns. Plus, it slides
out perpendicular to the shaver - very awkward. Not to mention, when I
extended it, all of my shaved whiskers fell out all over the place. But
don't let that deter you. This is a fantastic shaver. And for $16, it's a
steal.
Otherwise, I have not been able to find online any
independent, objective reviews of the shaver. However, sales sites like
Amazon.com have numerous reviews from actual users, and these are often
quite perceptive and can be very helpful to potential buyers.
Amazon.com
offers more than 150 consumer reviews of the PocketGo, most of them highly
favorable. Here is an excerpt from one:
I bought this as my travel shaver after
arriving at my destination and discovering that my rechargeable electric
shaver had discharged in my shaving kit.
This does an amazing job for a shaver with a single foil. I am prone to
razor burn, but have not gotten one from this razor. Does not shave quite as
close as my regular shaver, but close enough. Plus, I can now buy extra
batteries on the road if I need them. The trimmer does a good job too. It's
also not as loud as I feared. Overall a good buy!
And another:
I think it does as good a job as any other
electric shaver I've owned. And I've spent a lot more than 10 or 11 bucks on
those.
Bottom line: I like it and recommend it.
I use it as a travel shaver. It's "spunky" because it's battery powered. My
rechargeable starts to slow down after a couple of uses and, of course, needs
to be charged. This one really has some energy and so far I haven't worn
down the batteries. Battery life seems good since I'd be recharging by now
with my other shaver.
You might want to carry a couple of extra batteries with you when you're
traveling. But consider this... the shaver itself is self-contained. You
don't have to carry a recharging cord (you don't need access to an outlet)
and it flips around into its own "case" so there's no case or pouch to
carry around. As such, it's a good, very compact Braun shaver (with trimmer)
and you sure can't beat the price.
