Cuisinart Coffee Makers

Cuisinart coffee makers are enormously popular, and the company's online Coffee Bar Collection page displays no fewer than 15 items, such as the 4-Cup Coffeemaker and the Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker (picture).

Head over to Coffee Geek for some of the most intelligent coffee equipment reviews on the internet. It's not the best-organized website around, but spend a little time searching and you'll find plenty of views on Cuisinart, good and bad.

For example, here is an excerpt from one very lengthy review:

The Cuisinart Brew Central Model DCC-1200 is one of the most intelligently thought out programmable drip type coffeemakers that I've ever owned. It may be that die-hard coffee aficionados won't use the programmable feature, but I find it invaluable, since when first waking, I "need" coffee already brewed!

And another:

I really wanted to like the Coffee on Demand (Model #DCC-2000). My Cuisinart Brew Central has done a great job for many years, and this looked like a potential replacement. After using it for three weeks, though, it had to be returned.

Otherwise, sales sites like Amazon.com and Epinions.com are excellent places to find more reviews.

For example, in April 2006 the Cusinart Brew Central was the most popular of the hundreds of coffee makers available at Amazon.com (its main rival was the Braun KF600 Impressions 10-Cup Coffeemaker), and it had attracted more than 350 customer reviews.

Here's one five-star review:

The Brew Central is still working great after a month of use. First the good: the unit brews faster than my last few drip machines, and the cone-shaped filter seems to brew coffee more efficiently - I was able to drop down slightly on quantity of coffee grounds used for the same strength brew.

My favorite feature is the adjustable heat plate. We like our coffee hot, and this machine delivers. I also appreciate the solid build quality, seems like it should hold up well over time.

The only down-sides are a smallish reservoir filler opening, and IMO they cheaped too much out on the LCD clock. Oh, and watch out for the pricing on replacement carafes - over $20 for a Cuisinart replacement.
